Singapore Originals Presents Weish

In her solo performances, weish utilises looping techniques to construct each element live, from beat to bass, riff to melody--mostly from the mouth alone. Hers is a voice of modern displacement, suspended between talk and silence, comedy and despair, momentum and ennui, originality and cliche and more. Her music has received interesting and unique reactions; listeners have called her sound “endless” and "heartbreaking". Armed with her looper, influences from a wide range of genres, and a treasury of much cherished collaborations with bands she has long admired, weish has grown significantly in writing and in her live performances over the past year, and is very honoured to be a part of this show.

Singapore Originals Presents Gentle Bones

Nineteen year old Joel Tan who goes by the moniker of ‘Gentle Bones’ for his solo acoustic project does not find it wise to derive his inspiration from a specific genre or artiste. He welcomes the fact that we are often in constant flux, and this includes even his inclination towards his favorite musicians – that too may change in the future. But for now, his acoustic style of music has never ceased to impress.

宇宙人 Cosmos People - Live!

What can you expect from Taiwan-based indie outfit Cosmos People 宇宙人 at their live shows? Nothing short of a visual spectacle, plenty of energy, and their infectious upbeat blend of disco-funk and acid-jazz grooves. They've topped music charts in Taiwan, and been invited to play at various music festivals including the most recent SXSW. Be sure to catch their one-night-only performance at Switch on 10 July!

Cumulated by the success of Singapore Originals success and Switch’s emerging status as a platform for musicians from the Chinese-Mandarin scene in Singapore, Switch will be giving centre stage to a Mandarin version of Singapore Originals titled 新创.

Switch is now calling for bands to submit their original music in Mandarin to have the opportunity to be featured on新创. Email us with your details to switch@timbregroup.asia now.

The Cider Sessions: Paige Trantham

Paige Trantham's husky, soulful voice ends itself particularly well to blues, soul, folk rock, jazz and fusions of the music and musicians she is inspired by. With numerous supports, guest spots and admiration under her belt from the likes of Brian Ferry, Carol King, Wendy Matthews to name but a few, thing are looking bright for the acclaimed Margaret River based singer-songwriter. Paige's performances at The Cider Sessions on 30 May at Timbre @ Gillman and 1 June at Timbre @ The Arts House are supported by saxophonist maestro Lindsay Baker.

Timbre @ Gillman at Gillman Barracks provides a distinctive avenue for the appreciation and celebration of quality live music in the good company of other creative talent within the arts cluster. Chill out to nightly live music performances amidst the lush greenery of the Barracks by Timbre’s quality line-up of Singaporean musicians and artists, who will perform against the striking centerpiece of an 8-metre stage featuring a green wall with live plants. With an extensive outdoor space just beside, outdoor events such as concerts featuring visiting musicians will be organised, fostering an environment of cultural exchange and creative energy.

Switch is Timbre Group's latest live music bar offering a new music experience with Mandarin and English performances from Monday to Saturday.
